Drawing a black rectangle in an ordinary PDF editor only covers the words: anyone can copy the text underneath or remove the rectangle. That mistake has exposed court filings and government records. Here, every page you redact is rebuilt as an image with the black boxes burned in, so the hidden text, images and comments no longer exist in the file.
Use Find to mark a name or an account number everywhere it appears, or the quick buttons for Social Security numbers, email addresses, phone numbers and card numbers. Always review the marks before saving. Pages without redactions are copied unchanged, and you can also clear the document properties. To lock the result with a password, use Protect PDF.
