A PDF page numbering tool stamps a "Page X of Y" label onto every page of a document, at a position and starting number you choose, so the file can be referenced, cited or navigated by page number the way a printed book or report normally would be.

Students number assignments and combined lecture notes for easier reference during study or discussion. Office teams typically add numbering as the very last step in assembling a multi-source document, once merging, reordering and other edits are already finished.
